i have a few answers! for the 6 acres and house there would either be some sort of rental situation which would be 1500 a month for the house and land the house has 4 real rooms and about 2 extra areas that could easily become rooms. its located between ann arbor michigan and detroit in southern michigan in a small farming city. So as far as being close to family im about 2 hours away. honestly though im open to anywhere nationwide to live. I love the idea of doing a small farm although in this particular area we would have some serious competition. i think the most difficult part about this would just be finding enough people to make this happen.

i have a few questions..do you have any idea what kind of payments there are for the 6 acre lot, per month and total? Just to have an idea of how many people would be needed and how much we'd have to be makin. I've always wanted to start like a smaller scale organic farm type deal and sell to the local community but just lack the land. maybe that could be an idea for the eventual use of the land if we were able to get this thing going, but until that would get started we'd probably have to have some other sort of jobs/income. also what city is this in / where would you be looking to get land? somewhere in ohio still or anywhere nationwide? I'm in the dayton area as well as my family and it'd be nice to be able to stay within a few hours of them if possible.

hello everyone it seems like everything has been trying to prevent me from responding to you all. What brought this thought back to the front of my mind was a conversation with my mother talking about selling our 6 acres and home do to the economy. i really wanted to figure out a way to keep this especially since my grandmother lives next door on an additional 6 acres . well seeing as though we are all low on cash and ive never bought anything bigger then my car i dont quite understand all the details of buying.

what i do know is that there needs to be an attempt. Even if that means renting a house with lots of people working together. Or moving in with someone who has to big of a mortgage and dosnt want to work 24/7 just to keep from foreclosure.

Im thinking and looking. please message me if you are serious because im ready to start taking active steps.

Delete Comment Hey everyone WBV! I think this is a good idea. I too am in Ohio, and can agree with the posted comments. My husband and I have 2 children and are looking into buying land to build an eco friendly home....income is short....but it would be really cool to go in on some land, whether it already has properties on it or not. I am pretty resourceful when it comes to finding good deals so let me know if you all would like to get something planned. We could all use a supportive community!! Much Love!

Coincidence? i just messaged Sevan about this very same topic, I'm very tired of the 9-5, well, 11-7, I'm also 20, opted out of college and I feel that work is distracting me from my spiritual life. I live in ohio, i'm pretty broke as well, but where there is a will there is a way, income taxes are coming up soon and If we put enough thought into it I think we can make it happen! :)

Honestly, I  would have to say I don't personally know any like minded people that would probably be interested in this. Most of my friends think I'm a little out there when I talk about ideas such as this. I know one pretty good friend who might have an interest depending on the situation specifically, but hes still in college at the moment, not sure if he would be willing to dropout or not. So I'd have to say I probably wouldn't have anyone else joining in that  I know personally at the moment.

Hi 'Jewel Free' thanks for responding to my post . ive been thinking about this for so long and im so ready to take a first step toward making this happen. i had a lot more to say but i got cut short by a crying kid at WORK. im from michigan in a very rural area. i was thinking about just trying to get like a small group of like 6-8 people who would want to rent a home, splitting bills between that many people would make it easier to have more down time for the important stuff. well i know someone with 6 acres and a house they need to rent. im not sure how much they would expect. do you have any like minded friends that you know personally?

Hey Liz,

I would certainly be interested in a fresh start/some sort of community living project. I'm quite broke at the moment as well however haha. Just graduated from university and now got student loans to deal with. Since graduating I've been trying to do more of my own thing like vegetable gardening lately, researching a lot on the whole 'freeman of the land' thing, but now im feeling like im close to fallin back into the cycle of working to deal with student loans and what not. Anyhow, I've always wanted to start like a community or commune I believe it's called where like minded people can live on a piece of land maybe with housing on it already or build their own housing and grow a large portion of their own food etc.. It'd be nice to have some piece of land though for this though which seems to be my restriction too, plus just gettin people interested in joining. Well I am from the Ohio area at the moment..where are you from? Well just trying to get this conversation going some more,
