Wholeness everyone,
This is something I have had to spend considerable time attempting since my journey began. I would first like to say one must be persistance and patience but most importantly believe that you can do it; your thought forms are more powerful than you can ever imagine.
First of all you should keep a dream journal beside you when you wake up as it will help you log the memory within your brain much like study notes. It is much better to write it down on paper than using a mobile or computer device to create this long term memory. Here's a link to a study I found which helps prove this: http://diuf.unifr.ch/people/lalanned/MeMos07/files/kalnikaite.pdf. Its important that the journal remain close to your bed as the longer you're in the physical realm the less likely you're to remember your dream. You can first start with key words and then move onto writing more detailed experiences as you progress.
The second thing that's very important to have is token(s) to remind one's self that you're in the dream world. I use my iphone's set reminder time which displays "am I dreaming" multiple times during the day to help spark signals within dreams. You can use your watch for example and question your reality multiple times a day too.
The third thing is to not go too deep into sleep, this means no alcohol, food, or working out before bed as the body will go into heavy cleansing which is a deep healing state. Your body sleep pattern often follows a series of sine wave and every 4.5 hours one`s frequency levels peak above deep sleep ( I often have 3-5 dreams). However, the best time to go lucid is after 5 a.m because you're in a delta state much like in meditation (7-13 hz) susceptible to lucid dreaming. We often notice this occurring when we go back to sleep in the early hours of the day. So I suggest having an alarm that is able to wake you up ever so slightly enough to throw you back to a lucid state.
Lastly, affirmations and meditation both at morning and night help because you're better able to focus on what you want from the dream world. The dream world is basically consistent with our subconscious thoughts; what we store in there day in and day out is what we'll receive in our external perception. Meditation will help one gain control of one's thoughts while affirmations will help customize the dream realm in accordance to the path we wish to chose. There are many affirmations out there you just need to google ``lucid dream affirmation`` and find one that suits you. The best part is the dream world can act as an inner guidance to what you need to improve on in your life as you can meet individuals along the way just as in real life imposing and relaying your subconscious thoughts upon you.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask, Thanks
