'the picatrix is arabic but it's an arabic book about magic using a mythology from greece. The lesser key of solomon is another interesting text in this case. It seems very much catholic in it's thinking and it's posturing toward the world. It was pushed as a kabbalistic method supposedly used by solomon to control demons or the djin of the desert. But tracing some of the names leads people to notice that it looked like a book that changed pagan gods and spirits and put them in a hierarchy to be commanded by yawheh. I've been reading this 2 volume text called geosophia that traces the techniques used in the lesser key to funerary rites in ancient greece when people would attempt to contact the chtonian underworld. He also claims that a lot of greek myths about journeys to the chtonian underworld originate with thracian shamans doing their "journeys" to the spirit world and returning with knowledge from that world.'
