Sleep stages are divided into two main categories: non-REM sleep and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, where dreams typically occur.  Over the course of the night a sleeper will cycle through the five stages of sleep a number of times with the REM stages lasting longer and longer towards morning.

Great observation. Sounds like you are very much in tune with your dream world and aware of how your subconscious works.

Happy travels in the future!

@Mystic Fire....Thanks for the response!  From my innerstanding me being able to see my reflection in the mirror without distortion is me accepting the fact that dreams are just as real as reality.  I also learned that mirrors can act as portals, yet in my dreams I tend to let the dream flow the way it is set up so that I may learn what my subconscious is trying to communicate with me.  I believe it was a way for it to accept the fact that it is okay for me to be awake while dreaming.  In the past, I would immediately wake up when I knew I was dreaming, but I never gave up and I believe it was acknowledging the fact that I can remain awake while it communicates with me.  I also like how it tells me when it's time to awaken when I need to use the bathroom or if it's too hot in the room!  I think it is important to have a relationship with our subconscious mind.  It doesn't know about humor.  It's like a 2 year old child, yet it has immense power!

Wow thank you. Are there ways to have dreams?... Well remember your dreams.

Comment by Mystic Fire on December 14, 2013 at 12:55pm

Elisha,

To help you begin lucid dreaming, choose a common object you might see in your dreams and establish it as a trigger to awaken you within your dream.

For example, if you choose a 'door' as your trigger, before you fall asleep remind yourself that seeing a door in your dreams will serve as a message that you are dreaming.

You may not remember your instructions the first few times you spot your chosen trigger within a dream or you may wake up after coming to the realization you are dreaming, but with practice it should work. If not, there are other exercises you can try.

Other members here may also be willing to share the methods that worked for them.

Elisha,

I suppose that would depend upon what you are trying to accomplish.

The Resistance website is a store house of valuable information. There is a search bar in the upper right hand corner, if you are looking for something specific. Also on the home page there is a 'start here' section for new members, if that helps: http://www.resistance2010.com/group/new-members

Poke around here and see where your interests take you. :-)
