Adaptogens are just as they sound.  They help in adaptation, whether the stressor or is "external" in the environment, or "internal" in the body.  They assist in keeping the immune and endocrine system in homeostasis.  Every so often I like to combine a few things to keep the body's movement as smooth as possible.  This particular blend also serves as a good stress reliever.  This can be blended (for those adverse to taste) in your shakes and juice blends.  Remember that herbs stimulate functions (organs) of the body and are only to be taken in cycles.  All the following are in powders (ground down real fine).

Turmeric (the insulator) a good blood mover (also a coolent) for summer) anti inflam, and good for bp.

Reishi all around good for the body.  Mind, hear, stress.

Guggulu a good anti inflammatory, good for arthritis, balances the dryness in the body (vata).

Ashwagandha good for stress, energizing, and regular sleeep.

Sometimes I will add shilajit ( to this mix (men can add gokshura (tribulus) ).  For herbal combinations licorice (note: licorice is said to be a melanin suppressor by some) is good to add in the mix as it tends to distribute the herbal combination effectively.

some adaptogenic "herbs"

*maca is also an adaptogen and can be consumed continuously like a food.

The list goes on.

It can be a good idea to add an adaptogenic "herb" to your juice blends.

I really enjoy Gynostemma tea.  It's a great adaptagen for helping lower blood pressure and reduces bad cholesterol, is an antioxidant and taste really good, similar to green tea.  I usually use it as the base for my smoothies.

It's known as jiaogulan in Chinese and is pretty cheap if you pick it up from a chinese apothocary.

Look at Gynostemma research as consolidated by Life Extension Foundation. It is eye opening all the anti aging longevity signaling effects it causes. Some of the best adaptogen and herb quality products Ron Teegarden makes FYI. Not all herbs have a stimulatory action and need to be cycled. Adaptogens are actually one of those classes that can be taken ongoing along with medicinal mushrooms.

FYI if you consume tea always by loose leaves or powder as 90% of tea bags have been found to have huge levels of lead and other metals. Also herbs and spices sourced outside the country get irradiated in many states during import like california. FYI. This damages the plant intelligence held in the biophotinic field access the morphic information field which is really how these medicines communicate with the body. It could be argued that these supplements become closer to dead and 90% ineffective in the body. This is why you need to do your research about companies that know how to get around the irradiation issue and source properly. Also look for herbs that are wildcrafted.
