Yesterday I was reading the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. There was a prayer in one of the Tablets that I said about gaining wisdom. When I went to be I was just about to go to sleep and said that prayer. About 10 or 15 minutes later I felt a spiraling energy in the middle of my brain. This spinning energy started spinning at a faster pace and started growing up through the top of my head and at the same time grew down through my body as well.
I never felt this before so it kinda frightened me. As soon as I felt a bit of fear it left. Has anyone else felt this before?

Dear Myers Sherri Lee Ann, your experience sounds familiar. In yoga there are 2 different approaches sourcing energy/consciousness and activating/clearing the Chakras.
The first most widely known (Kundalini) aims to make use of the ascending consciousness starting to push the energy upwards, pushing the kundalini energy up through all chakras and beyond (strong asanas & prana techniques). This method can be dangerous (i experienced it as pretty aggressive) and can leave serious damage if you actually succeed and blast dangerous energies of unconscious areas (these are mostly the lower chakras...) up through the crown chakra.
The other method makes use of the descending consciousness and i.e. when meditating you focus on the crown chakra and try to bring down the consciousness from the realms above and beyond the mind ("supramental consciousness", but hey - these are just words...). This supramental consciousness can be really powerful and will make its way down to the lower chakras and brings light down to those uncleared dark areas of your being. You actually feel a spiraling energy when you succeed opening wide up for it (with your heart & loving aspiration for the devine) ... and it will flow down through your crown chakra downwards. It can be described as a 2fold movement of energy (up&down). You may also feel it physically (headache/pressure) if you are not used to it. This kind of meditation may first have its impact on the mind & wisdom but it is not limited to it. Its just a door opener
Potentially you did experience this supramental consciousness?
If this is a match you should not fear it - open up for it when mediating and try to maintain connection throughout daily life. dont think I am even close to that :)....still in the make :).

Sucram,
Love and Light to you. Thank you for your knowledge. I have read some more about this online.
You are correct when you said that I meditate focusing on my crown chakra. This has helped me in the past. One time my body was telling me that I needed to self heal due to possible cancer. I went back to my bed and while I was laying there I started to focus on a white healing light (energy) radiating from the middle of my head. I started to see this light (energy) come closer and start to become very bright. I directed it to go up and out of the top of my head and run along the out side of my body and moved back up through the root chakra up through my body and back out of the crown chakra. This lasted for approx 30 minutes or so. My husband came into the room and touched me. Asked if I was having a fever because I was so hot.
Just a life experience.
Sherri
Sherry, glad I could help. Regarding the hot temperature I found something for you in Aurobindo's "Letters on Yoga"
(..) It has been the idea of many who have speculated on the subject that the body of the future race will be a luminous body (corps glorieux) and that might mean radio-active. But also it has to be considered (1) that a supramental body must necessarily be one in which the consciousness determines even the physical action and reaction to the most material and these therefore are not wholly dependent on material condition or laws as now known, (2) that the subtle process will be more powerful than the gross, so that a subtle action of Agni will be able to do the action which would now need a physical change such as increased temperature.(..)
what prayer was it ?
