Nowadays we may not know what to believe. It seems like the Media would like to think for us. For example movies like John Cartner and 2012 were complete flops in the box office thus no one pay attention to the real message behind creating the film. On the other hand this film The Mayan Word is a documentary about Mayan  prophecy from the perspective of actual Mayan people, based on their  interpretations of the Mayan codices and from oral tradition.

For those who have a limited internet connection or cannot find the time to watch this video, I highlighted much of what the narrator talked about below:

Time is cyclical.  To understand  the present, one must understand the past.

After the Spanish invasion of Mesoamerica, the Maya were  forced into slavery while any practitioners of spiritual practices were persecuted  and condemned as witchcraft. Most of the codices and Maya traditions were  destroyed in 1562.  Teaching of the  language was prohibited as well as the use of traditional clothing, which led  to a loss of identity, the loss of values and knowledge.

The civil wars of El Salvador and Guatemala in the 2nd  half of the 20th century, were financed and trained by the United  States, resulting in the death of over 350,000 people, most of them Mayan.  Mesoamerican governments, with the complicity  of foreign corporations, started these wars to take away ancestral lands from  the hands of the people.  They tried to destroy  the cultures that coexist in harmony with nature, to exploit the land and the  labor of the people.

For governments and big corporations, the prophecies of 2012  and the Mayan culture are themes to commercialize and generate tourism.  Today, the Mayan people do not have rights  regarding the administration of sacred sites built by their ancestors.

The Mexican government has hired out this sacred site for  big commercial events.

In Mexico, the Mayan traditional ceremony of the sacred fire  is prohibited in sacred sites that have been turned into tourist  attractions.  Facing these threats, in Guatemala,  the spiritual guides are trying to get a sacred sites law passed that would  give the Mayan people the right to manage their sacred sites.

The ancient Mayans made their prophecies thanks to their  intimate relationship with Mother Earth and the whole universe.  A relationship that is still alive today.

In order to communicate with their ancestors, the Maya light  the sacred fire as the center of the ceremony.   It is an offering to the cosmos.   The smoke links the Heart of the Earth with the Heart of the Sky.

There are various Mayan calendars that measure great cycles  of time and today are nearing completion; once cycle of the Long Count is  ending.  We are at the end of the Oxlajuj  Baktun, the fifth sun is changing and we are at the end of a cycle of 26,000  years.

The Mayans didn’t speak about the end of the world.  They spoke about the end of a cycle.   No  specific date is important.  What is most  important is the moment where we can make a change in the human system, in the  mind and in the heart.

Today, spiritual guides throughout the Americas are  gathering to discuss the prophecies related to the change of era.

According to one of the Maya people, “We can’t confirm that December  21, 2012 will be the exact end of the era but we are definitely close to the  end of the era. But what the messages are saying is that we have to prepare  ourselves because there will definitely be a change in energy.  We simply have to celebrate it and give  thanks because we are going to experience a very interesting moment in history.”

A Mayan woman stated, “In 2012, we will see things.  Strange, very strange things.  Even in the seas, things will appear that we’ve  never seen before.  The time is coming.”

Another Mayan woman said, “They told us that a day will come  when there will be hunger, thirst, there will be a lot of problems in the  future.”

Everyone is speculating on what will happen in 2012 and  there is not just one Mayan interpretation of the prophecies.  But for many, the message that the Earth is  giving us is clear.”

In the Maya cosmovision, the change of era in 2012 means  that the feminine energy of the Earth is gaining new strength.  This energy is being expressed in the  struggle of Mayan women to take back their right to the land, which is the  basis of their independence and the right to voice their opinions and vote in  their communities.

The 2012 prophecies are interpreted as not only changes in  the earth, but also as a positive transformation of the collective conscience.

Thank you Jones,

The biggest problem in the culture at the moment is that they're unable to go to sacred sites. That's a huge red flag that something is wrong here plus it necessary for them to talk to ancestors through fire and smoke. I really hope there is a movement oppose it.

Somehow their collective spiritual power and non-violent approach may pull it off; hopefully so.  If not, the energies are changing so rapidly that I trust this oppressive and misguided cabal like the Canadian mining company digging for gold will be stopped by nature itself.

I understand that there are plenty of huge gold mining corporations in the B.C area. However, I would like to hear more about these big corporations in the west and what they may be up to; pm me a link or something :)
