Hypnic Jerks

I have been asking this of astral travelers or meditators more of late, but the majority don't suffer the condition, and so don't have first hand experience of how to heal them.

The more I shut down the body, the more I experience hypnic jerks of the nervous system. These are involuntary shivers or reflex actions. The more I investigate this the more I realise I am not alone in people experiencing these, most for instance who don't meditate, and have them, experience them at night before sleep.

Now meditatively I am moving past them, and receiving energy anyway, even though the body is receiving the nervous jerks. I often have a shiver throughout my core when I obtain a measure of truth to a question, (common sense usually), and always have throughout my life. However hypnic jerks don't feel like the sudden shiver that moves through me, they are more like static shocks without the static feeling, usually mild twitches but occasionally bigger ones.

This is interfering with my ability to astral travel at present. It might not as time goes on, like meditation I have been able to separate myself from them even though they occur, but still I would like to heal the body if possible, and help others with the same reactions. They may even be positive, but as I don't know, and haven't yet found the answers, do you have any positive keys?

Thanks for any help.

I'll post an answer if a Master in meditation is able to answer :), as has happened before.

The only thing I've had that I can liken it to is the frequency that you hear in your ear when you are sensitive to them, and that when lucid you can expand to fill your entire body.

Well I can provide some insight that may help you:

The nervous system is of course deals with the brain and the spinal cord.   I would try re-balancing the nervous system as well as glandular system with a myriad of modalities.

Nervous system needs good fats (EFAS to act as an insulator), minerals (to hold a charge) and you need of course to work on stabilizing the spine:

- build a strong core and a strong back...you could see a chiropractor, but you could also do yoga or go to the gym and start stabilizing the spine.

- Flax Oil/Hemp Oil/ Virgin Coconut Oil

- B-Vitamins (well you can get most of it from food, such as nutritional yeast, or get a whole food supplement)

- you want to smooth out the signal from the brain, spine, and the rest of the body.

Glandular System: adaptogens - herbs.

- you can use herbal allies to help you balance out your glandular system.

- Duanwood Reishi, Holy Basil, Maca. are my personal favs.

Sample Book:

Adaptogens

*Of course, eat more alkaline - I think I read your post about this, so you already know about it.

You may want to try out this tonic.  Made it a while back:  its a glandular and nervous system tonic.

  • Holy Basil Tea (about 1.5 cups) (steep and let it cool for a bit, so it doesn't cook up the avocado)
*Then add everything into a blender:
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tsp of Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 1tsp Flax Oil
  • Maca  (2-3 capsule) (I only have capsules at the moment, so don't know what that is in tsp etc..)
  • Honey (sweeten to your linking) - I use usually 2-3 teaspoons.

Hope this helps.  If you have any questions just PM me and I'll send you my skype ID.

Thank you very much for this.

On yeast I have cut bread out of my diet completely trying to move away from yeast infections in the system, so that could relate to a lack of Vitamin B (especially with a quick bit of research B12), as my diet is nearly completely fruit/veg/nuts/living sprouts now, with some pasta or older dead food for taste occasionally :). I was buying rye bread, but I am unsure whether on balance its beneficial or negative moving from this point forward. Coconut Oil and the herbs will be on my shopping list next week, I was already considering the oil so this is great timing.

I am doing intensive Kundalini Yoga now too so that will help too in relation to the spine, much of the introduction material seems focused on it, I'll be sure to stick with it.

Thanks its all falling together, and in no small part because of people like you :).
